The Office of Curriculum, Assessment and Instruction provides support and links within many aspects of the School Department to help fulfill the mission. The Director of Curriculum, Assessment and Instruction works in close collaboration with the Assistant Superintendent, the Director of Instructional Support, and the Principals of our eight schools to help create and provide the format, structure, resources and materials that teachers need to help students achieve learning targets.

Major areas of focus of this office include curriculum, assessment, instruction and professional development for our instructional staff. The Office of Curriculum, Assessment and Instruction also assists in the development and process for Reporting of Student Progress toward our identified Academic Learning Targets.

Learning targets, instruction and assessments for students in South Portland are aligned with the Content Standards as articulated within the Maine Learning Results.
